Cristina Dobos is a prevention coordinator for an organization that works to prevent human trafficking.

When did you trust Christ?

All of my life I wondered what would happen to me after I died. I wondered if there was more to this life than what I have seen and experienced. In 2012, my wondering led me to Jesus and I decided to follow Him. Back then I was doing outreach to prostitutes in Romania and my heart was moved when I saw all the girls on the streets. I knew and felt that there is something more for them and they weren’t born for such a life. I realized that God had touched my heart and I decided to dedicate my life to serving and helping people in need. I realized that I wanted to follow Jesus and that the Holy Spirit was my only guide. Reading the Bible, I realized that all my unanswered questions now had answers in Jesus.
What have been the defining moments of your Christian walk?

Working with women in vulnerable situations and with people who are addicted to drugs has helped me to keep my faith and grow in it. Getting to see Jesus save women and change their lives forever has been a humbling experience. My job requires me to trust in Jesus even when situations look bleak or like they will not have a happy ending. I believe that God is in control of every human life and of every situation.
Why do you want to attend the Forum?

I want to make new connections with other Christian leaders and learn from their experiences. I want to learn how to be a better leader and how to better manage situations and groups of individuals. I hope the European Leadership Forum will provide a new perspective on doing ministry and that I will improve my skills so that I can better serve others.
What is your ministry?

I work for ELiberare, an organization in Romania that works to combat human trafficking. We do this in a variety of ways, such as by increasing awareness of the problem, providing trainings on how to prevent human trafficking, providing external assistance to help restore those who have been impacted, and by advocating and lobbying for victims in the political arena. I am personally a prevention coordinator for the organization. I am involved with the logistics for our campaign events and help with administrative aspects of the organization. I coordinate some of our campaigns and training events.
What are your past leadership roles?

I have been involved with young adult ministry in my church. Before I became a Christian, I led volunteers in outreaches to women who were involved in prostitution.

Why should someone invest in your ministry?

Human trafficking is a serious crime that occurs all across Europe. However, Romania is one of the main sources of men, women, and children who become exploited as victims of human trafficking in Europe. Because human trafficking is such a complex phenomenon, we need to influence as many social factors as possible to have an effect.
