What is your ministry?
I am a lead-elder in a local church that is independent, evangelical, and reformed theologically. I am deeply committed to multi-leveled discipleship, which has been greatly helped by having completed the YRM at ELF this year. I am currently discipling several men in a one-to-one setting as well as the leadership team (in more of a general sense). In 2021 I will be looking at developing out, with two others, for our discipleship model for the whole church. As we seek to produce disciples who make disciples.
I am considering studying for an MTh, starting in September 2021.
What do you hope to gain from participating?
I have chosen this initiative so that I can grow deeper in my own discipleship with Jesus, through the blessing of His body and the experience of other leaders. Knowing that growth as a disciple is dependant on the Holy Spirit and your willingness to learn and apply ourselves to wisdom so that, not only do I disciple others better, but also how we as a church can multiply this in a way that is sustainable and multiplying, leaving a foundation for the generations to come. But in the short term to continue to build a healthy and sustainable model for a healthy and growing church that is making disciples.
What is your leadership role?
I am a lead-elder in a local church plant which I was involved in, by God’s grace in 2013. As the only full-time paid staff member my responsibilities are for the general pastoral care of the people in the church, the bulk of the teaching ministry. Along with the leading of the team. I also disciple several men currently, on a one-on-one basis. It is my desire to not only develop them personally in their walk with Christ but to disciple them for ministry. Currently, two of the men that I am discipling, are being looked at for an appointment to deaconship and eldership within the next 12 months.
