What is your ministry?
I mentor a group of 4-5 believers, currently we are going through Rebecca McLaughlin’s book “Confronting Christianity” which deals with apologetic themes such as “Doesn’t religion hinder morality?”, “Hasn’t science disproved Christianity?”, “How can you say there’s only one true faith and isn’t the Bible full of contradictions?” The students are not involved in full time ministry but have had challenges in evangelism and want to know more about defending the faith.
What do you hope to gain from participating?
I want to grown in 1. The ability to bring up Jesus or His Word and how important He is in a way that doesn’t seem artificial or forced in a routine conversation. 2. How to search the literature for what’s current and important and what questions are being asked now rather than what was popular to talk about 25 years ago. 3. The skill of remaining calm and under control when the person you are talking to becomes angry or confrontational.
What is your leadership role?
I completed a MA in Christian Apologetics at Biola University in 2017. Since then I’ve started an Apologetics Interest Group at my home for interested believers, begun teaching in the area of apologetics at my church and been accepted as an associate missionary by Greater Europe Mission to help them teach apologetics to their missionaries. To that end I’ve become part of the Theology interest Group for GEM whose mission is to create a curriculum for their missionaries.
