Ministry Administration and Service and Counselling
Katalin Vamos is a worship leader and discipleship group leader and is studying to become a professional Christian counsellor.
When did you trust Christ?
I was raised in a religious family, but I had never experienced Christianity as a personal relationship with Jesus. When I was 14, one of my classmates invited me to a youth group where the people who talked about their faith were very convicting and inspirational. It was during that time when my search and hunger became more and more intense, and I really hungered for God. After a year I made the decision to give my life to Jesus. Since then I’ve seen how challenging it is to keep my focus on Him and to keep Him in the driver’s seat no matter what.
What have been the defining moments of your Christian walk?
After I became a Christian I became a leader in my youth group and also in the IFES student group in Hungary. It was a very intense time because the world just opened up for me very quickly and it was easy to have a deeper relationship with God. After I started to work it became more difficult to find my place in the world as a daughter of God. I went through a crisis, and then I started to make some changes in my life. I got to know more Christians in Hungary and we started an Alpha group. That gave me a new perspective on the Christian life. In the past 5 years I also started going to a new church, and I also gained a deeper hunger for God and a better understanding of myself and the people around me. I became part of a worship team two years ago, and that also gave me a new outlook on what worship means and on the kind of God I worship. Currently my focus is more on understanding myself and developing as a mental health professional.
Why do you want to attend the Forum?
Through the Forum I would like to grow in mentoring others. I would really like to organize a mentoring program for youth in our church. I would also like to meet other believers who are counsellors and psychologists.
What is your ministry?
I am a member of my church’s worship team, and I organize musical events for the team. I am also mentoring a few young women in my area. I am also a counselling student and am studying to be a professional Christian counselor.
What are your past leadership roles?
Previously I was a youth group leader, an IFES student group leader, and an Alpha group leader and organizer.
Why should someone invest in your ministry?
I think I am capable of organizing things and caring for people. I really love to see people become free and enjoy themselves in God. I think I have a good sense of helping people, listening to people, and helping them find their way.
