Children and/or Youth
Mateusz Nowacki is a youth leader in his church and a lay preacher.
When did you trust Christ?
I made the decision to follow Jesus when I was 12-years-old. I was attending a Bible study and I came to understand that the Gospel is real and that I need to trust and follow Jesus. For me it was more a process, rather than a single moment that changed my life. I grew up in a Christian family and attended a Baptist church. It came to my mind that Christianity is the truth and the only thing that is worth of following
What have been the defining moments of your Christian walk?
The most defining moments of my Christian walk have been hard and painful times. When my girlfriend broke up with me in November of 2010, it changed a lot in my life and made me think harder about my faith and whether I was really committed to it. Another difficult time was when my mom got a cancer three years ago. It got me thinking more about life and death, about things that are everlasting, and things that will not perish. I also learned a lot as a leader in a youth camp, which I have done more than 10 times. Those camps really changed the perspective I have for my life.
Why do you want to attend the Forum?
I want to return to the European Leadership Forum because of the influence it has already had on my ministry. The Forum is a great time of meeting new people who have similar ministry challenges to mine. It is an opportunity to share experiences, come up with creative solutions, and to focus on what God has called us to do. It is truly a blessing to be able to learn from people who have been serving the Lord longer than me and to have the possibility of talking with them about my future.
What is your ministry?
I am responsible for leading and teaching two Bible groups for boys and for leading youth meetings every week. I also take care of a men’s meeting once a month. I preach during Sunday service once every two months. I lead prayer meeting every Wednesday morning and try to provide pastoral care for people in our church.
What are your past leadership roles?
My past leadership roles very mostly concerned about serving the youth. I have been a leader at Christian youth camps 10 times.
Why should someone invest in your ministry?
I am humble and very aware of myself, of my limits, and of the sins that I struggle with. I am engaged in other people’s lives and passionate about the ministry that I do. I finished study at the University of Technology in Gdansk, and worked for five years as Robotics Engineer with laser welding, automotive, and ships. I left my job as robotics engineer because I think that full time ministry will be better for growing God’s kingdom. The elders in my church and all our church also recognized that this is a good decision.
