Christian Ministry—Pastoring/Church Planting
Pastoring and/or Bible Teaching
Milos Masarik is a pastor of a church and provides pastoral care for theology students in the Union of Baptist Churches.
When did you trust Christ?
I was 16-years-old when I heard a sermon at our church about God´s mercy. It was not particularly special, but God was present and the Holy Spirit opened my eyes and heart so that I realized what my life should be about. I realized what God´s love means and what it means that I should love Him. I visited church from my childhood (my father was a pastor, but now he is professor). I always kept Christian moral standards, but at this time when I was 16, I finally realized, thanks to God, what His love is.
What have been the defining moments of your Christian walk?
During my childhood my parents developed my faith by their example in my life (teaching summer school and taking me to church). Their Christian example was continuous during my adolescence and into the present. When I was 7 or 8-years-old, I had an important discussion with my father where I realized what sin is. When I was 16-years-old I understood and accepted the love and mercy of my Lord. When I was 17-years-old I was baptized. When I was 19-years-old I started my studies of evangelical theology and missions at university.
Why do you want to attend the Forum?
The Forum has helped me in the past with my academic development. I was studying for my PhD at the time and it influenced me tremendously. My long term goal of academic research is to implement the Gospel in the daily economic life of people in Slovakia. There is no tradition to follow. Attending the Forum has helped me to develop in this area.
What is your ministry?
I am the full time pastor of a local Baptist church in Ruzomberok. I was also delegated by the Union of Baptist Churches with the spiritual care for students of theology from our union. My wife and I have a small publishing house and e-shop with theological literature. I am member of the board of a Slovak Christian summer festival called Campfest. I am also working to implement clinical pastoral training in Slovakia.
Why should someone invest in your ministry?
I hope the Forum will not only bring me new knowledge, touching theology, and enhancement of my Christian ministry, but will also form my vision of using my studies for Christian ministry in Slovakia.
