When did you trust Christ?
About three years ago I was invited to attend the Discipleship Training School at the Youth With a Mission (YWAM) base and I encountered a new lifestyle of passionate Christians who do missions. During that time God was changing my inner character and motivations and He gave me a new desire to help people. I discovered that i can help people by using skills that I already have: filmmaking, producing, and photography. I saw that I can fulfil people’s dreams and bring them closer to God.
What have been the defining moments of your Christian walk?
I dove into a journey of four YWAM mission schools: the Discipleship Training School, the Biblical Christian Worldview School, the Bible Core Course, and the School of Worship. I later traveled to Israel and the Palestine Occupied Territory and I met with refugees and people who are struggling. Seeing their struggles impacted me and during my outreach in the School of Worship I disciplined myself for the first time in my life to write songs with lyrics solely based on the Bible.
Why do you want to attend the Forum?
As a Christian filmmaker from Latvia I would like to extend my network of collaborators and Christian leaders worldwide. I teach filmmaking and equip the next generation of filmmakers and leaders to share the Gospel through film, storytelling and media. I wish to learn new ways to implement foundational biblical values through storytelling, be it film, artwork, song or any kind of visual, audio or sensual content, as well as for those who cannot hear or see. I want to develop personal leadership skills to unite the creative children of God under the teachings of Jesus Christ.
What is your ministry?
I have been leading filmmaking classes, producing short film projects, and making music videos for Christian musicians by implementing biblical storytelling into them. I am also traveling through Scandinavian countries making a film about prayer, worship, healing, and works of God. I also have passion for Gospel music and worship. I have been participating in worship events by playing the cahon and piano while I learn more about music-making and production. I also recently recorded a very talented African musician from Ghana who lives in Vaasa, Finland. I plan to produce his first song to make his first music video.
What are your past leadership roles?
I have been coaching and helping students to make their first film projects. I have produced and co-produced a few foreign films in Paris, Los Angeles, Rome, and the United Kingdom.
Why should someone invest in your ministry?
Once my students become believers, they have a new heart and renewed mind, but they still have their old profession. Some individuals are not satisfied with their profession so I help them to change it. I coach them so they can learn a new profession and be inspired during the process of learning it.

When did you trust Christ?

I was introduced to Christianity in my early childhood, but I said “yes” to the Lord Jesus with my whole heart in 2013 while I was studying Stage Design at Latvian Art Academy. We were working on an adaptation of the Dostoevsky novel “Crime and Punishment,” and because of this novel I was studying Gospel

What have been the defining moments of your Christian walk?

Taking an alpha course in my church had significant role in my life as a new believer. Another crucial point was when my cousin died in the traffic accident and questioned my beliefs and saw how strong my faith was. In this despair I found the sweetest and strongest hope I ever had. Another significant role was played by the pastor of my church, who has supported me my entire Christian life, encouraging and praying for me.

Why do you want to attend the Forum?

I will be inspired and encouraged as a leader. I will meet other Christian leaders from different countries who are working in artistic networks. The Forum will be a great opportunity for new collaborations.

What is your ministry?

The art ministry Imago Dei provides Christian artists a community where they can share their faith and friendship. Imago Dei organizes discussion events for artists, plain-air trips, and creative workshops and exhibitions. These events not only showcase the work of Christian artists, but also help us to build community together. We are able to address social problems and raise awareness in Latvian society.

What are your past leadership roles?

I was the curator and decorator of events for a church. I was the creative workshop manager for a camp for orphans.

Why should someone invest in your ministry?

Ours is a unique ministry for artists in Latvia, where we share ideas and encourage each other. Imago Dei provides artists discussion events and the possibility of displaying artworks depicting specific social issues.
